Your support at home DOES make a difference in your child's future! I'm going to be honest here. When teachers send homework it is not just because we are being mean or that we are 'supposed' to send homework. It is to help your child become better. If you want your child to be 'better' at soccer, you take them to soccer practice. If you want your child to be better at playing a piano, you take them to piano practice.......
Here is more honesty...........it seems that the kids that really do their homework are the ones that don't really need to because they have awesome parent/home support already. The kids that never do their homework (Some parents just sign that the reading is done. Yep, we/teachers know when this happens.) often seem to fall behind and are at the lower end of the class for DRA reading levels. I said often, not always. I am a parent too. I know that some nights are way to busy and it can't always be done. Once in a while it is okay to have them read in the car or while waiting at the dr. office. Try to get it in somehow. If you absolutely can't, be honest. Don't sign the reading log saying that you/they did. If you sign that log without actually reading you are teaching your child to be dishonest.

Play with only Gs or with only Cs or play with both!

Before starting a game or activity a student pulls a
card from the icing container to decide Who Goes First.
These are just a few of the cards!
Read the card or use the the pictures to see Who Goes First!
Who Goes First? The one with the longest hair or the one with the shortest hair?
Who Goes First?
The one with the smallest foot or the one with the largest foot?
My kiddos had a great time learning how to use these cards. They quickly learned the proper procedure to start a game or an activity with no fuss.
